In fact, there's not one winner, but two. The judging panel, made up of representatives from Mobile Monday London and Mobile Marketing magazine, could not separate two of the entrants: Scramboo and PixelPin, so have decided to award the prize to both. They will now join the other exhibitors at the event, including InMobi, Adfonic, Cogenta, ScanLife, Textlocal, Prinovis and M&C Saatchi.
PixelPin is a start-up aiming to replace passwords and PINs with personal pictures. To log into a site, the user touches the picture at four points, the pattern known only to him or her.
When we broke the news to PixelPin founder Geoff Anderson he said: “This is fantastic; it’s a great opportunity for us to get in front of a whole load of new customers we have not spoken to before. Bring it on.”
Scramboo’s flagship product is a platform which allows clients to create, publish and update their own HTML5 web apps and mobile experiences. It includes an easy-to-use, browser based authoring tool which is location and augmented reality enabled, a sophisticated games rules engine, hosting, player account handing, an HTML5 presentation layer, and more.
When we told co-founder Douglas Robb that he had won a place at the event, he said: “We are absolutely delighted, this is really important for us. We believe we have a genuine market lead in what we are doing, so we want to get out to market as quickly as possible and this is a big opportunity for us to do that. We’ll run live demos at the event where people can create a game or publish content live and walk away with a URL where they can send people to experience the game.
We received more than 20 entries for the competition, and were hugely impressed by the high standard of the entries. We had originally planned to give away one stand, but it was so difficult to separate Scramboo and PixelPin that we decided both deserved their place.
